Financial Analyst

Position Summary

Responsible for duties relating to budgeting and forecasting, a variety of periodic and ad-hoc reporting, acquisitions, profitability, cost control, taxes, internal controls, process improvement, and automation projects.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Forecasting:
Assist in preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecasts including:
1. Development of templates, models and reports.
2. Preparation of depreciation schedules.
3. Calculation of various non-departmental expenses including: Interest Income/Expense, Interest Allocation, Income Taxes, Real Estate Taxes and other Corporate Allocations.
4. Utilizes Essbase for report development and data consolidation.
 
Reporting:
5. Assists in the preparation and customization of the monthly financial reporting package, e.g. sales recap by region, expense analysis, financial measures, report formats, etc.
6. Designs ad-hoc reports to assist department managers in decision-making.
7. Automate reporting where possible through spreadsheet macros.
 
Fixed Assets:
8. Coordinates and tracks the capital project requests.
9. Maintains corporate policy regarding capital expenditures.
10. Works with project managers to close projects in a timely manner.
11. Maintains the fixed asset subsystem including setting up new capital assets and disposing of capital assets.
12. Responsible for maintaining accurate depreciation calculations in the subsystem and recording the monthly journal entry.
13. Reconciles the subsystem to the general ledger on a monthly basis for asset cost and accumulated depreciation.
14. Prepares all interim and year-end audit and tax reports related to fixed assets.
15. Coordinates and executes a fixed asset audit at each facility location on a rotating 3 year schedule.
16. Analyzes completed projects to determine if they met their payback expectations used to justify the capital expenditure.
 
General Ledger:
17. Responsible for various cross-functional duties, e.g. audit/tax schedules, general ledger and payroll system integration, account reconciliations, and monthly journal entries.
 
Other:
18. Analyzes Company costs and identifies potential cost reductions.
19. Assists in the annual preparation of Company income tax returns, e.g. IC-DISC and R&D Tax Credit.
20. Performs process reviews and recommends improvements as appropriate.
21. Assist in completing US Census reports required to be completed by the company.
22. Reconciles bank accounts on a monthly basis.
23. Completes books and records for the company’s private foundation.
24. Completes other special projects and analysis as directed by supervisor.
 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5 years professional accounting/finance experience.
  • Preferred experience will include financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and process improvement in a manufacturing environment.
