Job Description:
Summary:
The person in this position will undertake challenging and fast-paced work on projects involving environmental impact assessment, permitting, and compliance. Work may include:
Compilation and analysis of environmental datasets
Writing environmental impact assessment documents
Developing and reviewing environmental, site, route, and conditional use permit applications
Completing environmental resources reviews
Participating in field assignments to gather baseline environmental data
Reviewing field reports to verify environmental compliance
Preparation of presentation materials to communicate project issues to a variety of stakeholder types
The person chosen for this position will collaborate with other Barr staff. Work may involve out-of-town assignments in the field or at another Barr office.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ongoing enrollment in an environmental science, studies, or policy; ecology; natural resources management; archaeology; or a related field
Completion of 2 years of college curriculum
GPA of 3.2/4.0 or higher
Effective oral and written communication skills
Exceptional technical writing and task management skills, including scheduling, prioritizing, and following up
Attention to detail
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Ability to work independently and collaborate with teams of specialists and regulators at all levels
Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule to meet deadlines and/or client needs
Willingness to regularly travel up to 50 percent of the time with the potential for greater levels of periodic travel to meet client needs
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous relevant internship experience
Experience evaluating environmental data and preparing reports
Familiarity with GIS tools
This position requires presence in our Duluth or Minneapolis, Minnesota Barr offices.
