About the Job

The University of Minnesota Duluth Department of Art & Design seeks to develop a pool of candidates for possible temporary full-or-part-time Instructor of Graphic Design to teach Fall 2024 and/or Spring 2025. Persons selected will teach lower and/or upper division courses to a diverse group of undergraduate students. Appointments are usually made on a semester-by-semester basis for fall and spring semester contingent upon student enrollment and the availability of funding.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
For Instructor level position, applicants must have a BFA in Graphic Design or equivalent Plus a minimum of 3 years professional experience.
OR applicants must have a MFA, or MDes, in Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Visual Communication Design or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution

All applicants must have:

  • Experience in working in a Mac-based lab environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in current digital design tools
  • Evidence of skill in traditional and interactive design

Preferred Qualifications

  • One-year of college-level teaching experience online and/or in person (including graduate/teaching assistant positions)
  • Professional experience in graphic design
  • Demonstrated expertise in current Adobe CC software applications
  • Familiarity with UI and UX design system thinking
  • Development and prototyping across mobile and desktop devices
  • Experience with dynamic web design development and content management systems (CMS).
  • Command of contemporary design discourse as it applies to design-system thinking and user design
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion and/or social justice.
